The Sonic Architecture and Design Studio is equipped with a vintage 8-track analogue recorder/mixer. The warmth of tape can serve as a great alternative to digital recording. This is somewhat of a lost medium especially amongst smaller recording studios. It would be ideal for an artist or group recording live, looking for a more pure, organic sound. The artist would then have the ability to transfer the tracks to Pro-Tools for additional tracking/editing/mixing. This is a great way to combine the analogue sound with the convenience of digital recording.
Here are a few examples of tracks recorded using analogue tape.
Song: Conductor Artist: Beecher’s Fault
Acoustic guitar, piano and vocals – recorded live
Song: Walk Don’t Run
Artist: The Mike Post Band
